“I never envisioned the amount of growth I would make with OMD. . . They exceeded my expectations and have helped me in every aspect of my college and career experience.”
Precious was a student at Malcolm X College when she enrolled in One Million Degrees. Although her academics were challenging at times, she persisted, remaining in good or excellent standing throughout her time as an OMD Scholar. She credits OMD with improving her confidence and networking skills. As an OMD Ambassador, she practiced those skills when she spoke at Food & Wine, OMD’s largest fundraiser of the year: “I was extremely nervous because I had to network with so many guests. . . Events like this have improved my confidence.”
After graduating with her associate’s degree in Science, Precious transferred to UIC, where she is currently a Junior. She majoring in Urban Studies, works as a Peer Mentor for UIC’s Career Services, and has an internship at Raila & Associates, P.C. Eventually, Precious hopes to go into non-profit work, perhaps starting one of her own that targets at-risk youth.
